ETC also promoted the 14th annual Tourism Journalism Awards.
These are awards given to tourism journalists in Brazil who,
in ETC's view, have written the best articles and features on
Europe. There are nine different categories. In 2004, the award

Argentina
For the first time in many years, ETC expanded its activities
to cover Argentina, another important market in Latin America.
A workshop for the trade, journalists and opinion leaders was
held in Buenos Aires on 30th September and attracted some 200
delegates. It marked the relaunch of ETC's activities in Argentina.
In October at the large ABAV event in Rio de Janeiro, the most
important tourism fair in Brazil, ETC members had individual
stands next to each other, but these were grouped as an
ETC/Europe presence. Also at ABAV, ETC Latin America set up a
25-seat cinema, CineEuropa, to show its new 10-minute DVD with
images of the group's nine member countries. The film was shown
every thirty minutes.
A roadshow for travel agents
and tour operators was taken
to three important markets -
Campinas, Curitiba and
Goiânia - in August and
September. An average of 8
