Mr. Perkins is an expert in the development of tourism destinations that have a strong cultural or environmental character. He has experience both of large-scale regeneration projects and of the development of smaller destinations.

Ms. Ana-Claudia Ţapardel is a member of the Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism and co-Chairs the Intergroup on European tourism development, cultural heritage, Way of St. James and other European cultural routes.

Ms. Ilona Lelonek is a Project and Policy Officer responsible for implementation of the preparatory actions: "European Destinations of Excellence" EDEN, “Sustainable Tourism”, the actions linked to promoting diversification of European tourism offer and to development of a sustainable and responsible tourism.
Council of Europe, Cultural Routes Project Coordinator
Ms. Eleonora Berti is the Council of Europe Cultural Routes Project Coordinator at the European Institute of Cultural Routes. She is the author of "Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe: between landscape project and research of identity", FUP (2012) and co-author of the vademecum "Cultural Routes management: from theory to practice", Council of Europe (2015).
Director of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities
Mr. Jacques Mattei is director of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities - a non-profit making organization, which endeavours to unite European cities whose history was influenced by Napoleon.
UNESCO World Heritage Centre
Mr. Peter DeBrine joined the UNESCO World Heritage Centre in 2011 as a Programme Specialist where he is spearheading the development of a new World Heritage and Sustainable Tourism Programme.
The joint international seminar is the exceptional occasion to officially launch the brand new ETC-UNWTO Handbook on Marketing Transnational Tourism Themes & Routes.>
In recent years, the development of tourism themes and routes has gained prominence with the key aim of bundling services and attractions under a unifying subject and for promotion purposes. These themes bridge the gap between a destination’s tangible and intangible features and are designed to appeal to specific visitor segments interested in gathering unique experiences on topics such as culture, history, heritage, nature, sports, gastronomy, religion or health.
This unique event is intended to shed light on the landscape of tourism themes and routes in Europe and worldwide. This occasion will provide an excellent platform to better understand the development, management, and promotion of transnational tourism routes and will provide practical guidance for DMOs, NTOs and NTAs on how to market and promote destinations through transnational thematic tourism experiences and products.
This event is addressed to National Tourism Organisations/Administrations, Destination Management Organisations and Tourism experts in the field.
